And I forgot to say, regarding your comment: “But in turning myself entirely to God, I came to see these ideas as gracious, loving. I SO don't "deserve", I am wholly depraved, yet You love me nonetheless and offer me, ME, Your son's sacrifice”, Praise the Lord! Thank you for sharing that, Veritas.

Hello to you, Veritas! Thank you for reading! Are you familiar with Martyn Lloyd-Jones, a Welsh physician and preacher who died in 1980 or 1981? His sermons on Romans make up 13 volumes. You can hear him on https://www.mljtrust.org/. I mention him because he was a great reformed preacher who was not antisemitic and late in life came to see that replacement theology was wrong. He was very strong on eternal security. All the best to you!

Hey Art,

I love this podcast - your logic and the commentaries you chose.

I like what you said, “Notice carefully the phrase vessels of wrath prepared for destruction. Vessels of wrath are those whose sins make them subject to God’s wrath. They are prepared for destruction by their own sin, disobedience, and rebellion, and not by some arbitrary decree of God. … God’s sovereignty is never exercised in condemning men who ought to be saved, but rather it has resulted in the salvation of men who ought to be lost.

God does not prepare vessels of wrath for destruction, but He does prepare vessels of mercy for glory.” (Don’s emphasis).

I also appreciate the brevity of the podcast. Rightly dividing the Word of God requires years, putting it into a concise form that others can understand requires hours of work on your part. Putting it into a short presentation like this should pique the interest of others to go deeper into the Word of God.

Thank you for your “deep thinking” about these important topics!

Many blessings,

Don

I was used to finding those ideas of election (c.f.Jonathan Edwards "Sinners in the hands of an angry God" , read in high school English) and of predestination difficult to accept. Raised, like centuries of my New England forebears, in the Congregational Church, as an adult I have been Presbyterian--these are just English and Scottish arms of Calvinism. But in turning myself entirely to God, I came to see these ideas as gracious, loving. I SO don't "deserve", I am wholly depraved, yet You love me nonetheless and offer me, ME, Your son's sacrifice.
